Dr. Jasneth James, DNP, FNP is a Doctor of Nursing Practice, Family Nurse Practitioner, educator, author, international speaker, entrepreneur, and humanitarian whose life's mission is to improve the health and well-being of underserved communities through compassionate healthcare, education, and service.
Throughout her career, Dr. James has embraced the philosophy that true transformation occurs when healthcare, education, compassion, community development, and faith work together to empower individuals and strengthen entire communities.
Originally from Jamaica, Dr. James has devoted more than 25 years to the nursing profession. Her career has encompassed hospital nursing, primary care, community health, chronic disease management, diabetes education, wound care, preventive medicine, men's health, functional medicine, IV therapy, and weight management. She is the founder and owner of a successful wellness practice in New York, where she provides patient-centered care with an emphasis on disease prevention, healthy living, and empowering individuals to take charge of their health.
An accomplished educator, Dr. James has served as both a clinical and didactic nursing instructor, helping to prepare future generations of nurses for professional practice. She has also served as a preceptor and mentor for Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students, believing that investing in education is one of the greatest ways to strengthen healthcare worldwide.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. James previously owned, operated, and served as the Director of a licensed personal care home in Georgia, where she was responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the facility. She coordinated comprehensive resident care, supervised staff, managed admissions, oversaw meal planning and recreational activities, ensured regulatory compliance, and created a safe, compassionate environment that promoted dignity and quality of life for elderly and vulnerable residents. This experience further strengthened her leadership, organizational, and healthcare management skills and reinforced her commitment to providing person-centered care.
Throughout her career, Dr. James has remained deeply committed to humanitarian service. She has organized and led medical mission trips to her native Jamaica, coordinated relief efforts following Hurricane Melissa, and participated in medical mission outreach to Bolivia, Honduras, and the island of Utila. She has also served in numerous community outreach initiatives throughout the United States, providing health education, screenings, and compassionate care to underserved populations.
In addition to her healthcare and humanitarian work, Dr. James has extensive experience in community development and real estate renovation. While living in Georgia, she successfully acquired, renovated, and restored multiple residential properties over more than a decade, transforming neglected homes into quality housing for families in need. After relocating to New York, she coordinated community efforts to completely renovate apartments for single mothers, organizing volunteers to clean, repair, paint, furnish, and restore homes so that families could begin new chapters in safe, dignified living environments. These experiences strengthened her skills in project planning, construction oversight, resource management, budgeting, volunteer coordination, and community partnerships—experience that complements her vision of developing sustainable healthcare facilities and wellness centers in underserved communities.
Her combined experience in healthcare leadership, healthcare administration, community development, housing rehabilitation, construction oversight, and humanitarian service uniquely positions her to successfully lead multidisciplinary projects that improve both the health and quality of life of underserved communities.
Dr. James was honored to participate in the Pathway to Health mega-clinic in the United States, where thousands of volunteer healthcare professionals provided free medical, dental, vision, and specialty healthcare services to more than 8,000 individuals in need. This experience further strengthened her conviction that quality healthcare should be accessible to everyone, regardless of income or location.
Her commitment to community service extends well beyond clinical practice. She has organized and participated in feeding programs for homeless individuals in Atlanta, Georgia, prepared and served meals for cancer patients and their families at the Ronald McDonald House, visited patients in their homes through community nursing initiatives, and continually sought opportunities to reach individuals who have limited access to healthcare.
Believing that prevention is the cornerstone of good health, Dr. James founded Operation BP Check, a community outreach initiative dedicated to providing free blood pressure screenings, health education, and referrals throughout New York City communities. Through this initiative, she educates individuals about hypertension, diabetes, nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle changes that can prevent chronic disease before it begins.
Within her church community, Dr. James has faithfully served as Community Services Director, organizing health fairs, outreach programs, food distribution, humanitarian projects, and community service initiatives. In recognition of her dedication and leadership, she received her local church's Community Service Award.
In addition to her clinical and humanitarian work, Dr. James is an accomplished author, motivational speaker, and international presenter. She has spoken on topics including health and wellness, women's empowerment, leadership, domestic violence awareness, resilience, faith, and overcoming adversity. Her newest publication, Let Food Be Your Medicine, Not the Cause of Disease, published in July 2026, reflects her passion for lifestyle medicine, nutrition, and disease prevention through healthy living. She is also the author of the inspirational I Rise Up book series, which encourages, equips, and empowers women to overcome adversity, domestic violence, trauma, and life's challenges through faith, resilience, healing, and purpose. Through her books, speaking engagements, and advocacy, Dr. James remains committed to helping individuals discover their God-given worth, rebuild their lives, and become agents of positive change within their families and communities.
